Hamilton's iconic indoor market has been running since 1837. With 50+ vendors year-round, it's the most complete market in the region — local produce, artisan bakers, butchers, cheesemakers, and seasonal specialties. Arrive before 10 AM for the best selection.

Ottawa Street Farmers' Market

Dundas Farmers' Market

Ancaster Old Village Farmers' Market

Set along the heritage streets of Ancaster's historic village — one of the most picturesque markets in the region. Quality vendors, artisan baked goods, preserves, and local meats. Arrive before 4 PM for the best seasonal produce.

Binbrook Farmers' Market

June – October

Ages: All ages — Saturday mornings are a true family event

The go-to market for the Binbrook community, with a twice-weekly schedule in summer. The Saturday morning market is a genuine gathering spot — kids run around the Community Centre grounds while parents browse. Adjacent to Binbrook Conservation Area for a post-market hike.

Stoney Creek Farmers' Market

Greensville Farmers' Market

Festival of Friends — 50th Anniversary

Northern Heat Rib Series

A weekend of competitive BBQ on the Mountain — pitmasters from across the region showcase their best ribs, pulled pork, and smoked meats. Live music, vendors, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Canadian Japanese Summer Festival

Ancaster Fair — 176th Annual

Raffi — Live in Concert

Wild Waterworks

Parking: Paid lot at Confederation Park (~$10–15)
Ages: Best for ages 3–14

Hamilton's outdoor water park with a wave pool, waterslides, lazy river, and toddler splash area. Open through Labour Day. Bring your own snacks — outside food is permitted. Weekday mornings are the quietest time to visit.

Hamilton Waterfront Live Music

Pier 8 Waterfront Stage, Hamilton

Splash Pads

Free splash pads at Gage Park (1000 Main St E), Sam Lawrence Park (Jolley St, West Mountain), Bernhardi Park (Upper East Mountain), and parks across the city. Check hamilton.ca/spray-pads for real-time operating status — splash pads close occasionally for maintenance.

RBG After Dark

HBSPCA Pet Health Outreach Clinic

The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA runs regular pet health outreach clinics offering affordable vaccinations, microchipping, and wellness checks. A great resource for Mountain families with dogs.

Year-Round Off-Leash Dog Parks

These are Hamilton Mountain's best off-leash areas — open all summer for morning runs and evening walks with your dog.

Heritage Green Sports Park

Best for: Puppies and dogs still learning recall

One of Hamilton's few fully fenced off-leash parks — ideal for puppies or dogs with unreliable recall. Medium-sized with potential small/large dog separation. Limited shade, so visit in cooler hours during summer.

Gage Park Off-Leash Area

1000 Main Street East, Hamilton
Parking: Free lot on Main St side
Best for: Dogs who love shade and tree-lined paths

Gage Park's off-leash area has mature tree canopy — one of the coolest dog parks in the city even on hot days. Medium-to-large designated zone with open lawns. Keep dogs in the off-leash zone when passing the playground and splash pad.

Sam Lawrence Park

Jolley Street, Hamilton (West Mountain escarpment)
Parking: Free street parking on Jolley St
Best for: Evening walks with epic sunset views

An unfenced off-leash area perched on the escarpment with panoramic views of the lower city. Open grassy fields with clear sightlines — great for fetch. Voice control required; escarpment edge is unfenced. One of the best sunset spots in the city for evening dog walks.

Confederation Park Dog Beach

630 Lakeshore Road, Hamilton
Parking: Paid lots (~$10–15); arrive early on weekends
Best for: Dogs who love water — full Lake Ontario access

One of the few places in Hamilton where dogs can swim in Lake Ontario off-leash. Sandy/pebbly beach with open water. Supervise closely — waves can pick up on windy days. Bring fresh water for your dog and rinse off at the outdoor showers before heading home.

Bayfront Park Off-Leash Area

235 Bay Street North, Hamilton
Parking: Free lot off Bay St N
Best for: Wide-open runs with harbour views

One of Hamilton's most scenic dog spots. The large off-leash zone on the park's west side has ample room for fetch and running along the harbour. Limited shade — visit morning or evening in summer. Connects to the Waterfront Trail for a longer leashed walk.
