A Saturday morning staple on Ottawa Street. This market has a neighbourhood feel, with local produce vendors, baked goods, and prepared foods. The surrounding Ottawa Street shopping district is worth exploring afterward.

Hamilton's outdoor water park with a wave pool, waterslides, lazy river, and toddler splash area. Open through Labour Day. Bring your own snacks — outside food is permitted. Weekday mornings are the quietest time to visit.
Free live music at the waterfront every Thursday evening through the summer. A relaxed, family-friendly vibe with harbour views. Grab dinner from a nearby restaurant or food truck and enjoy the sunset.
City of Hamilton day camps run at community centres across the Mountain (Flamboro Hills, Ancaster, Binbrook, and more). Additional options include Royal Botanical Gardens nature camps, Conservation Authority outdoor camps, and the Warplane Heritage Museum's aviation-themed camp. Check hamilton.ca for availability.

These are Hamilton Mountain's best off-leash areas — open all summer for morning runs and evening walks with your dog.
One of Hamilton's few fully fenced off-leash parks — ideal for puppies or dogs with unreliable recall. Medium-sized with potential small/large dog separation. Limited shade, so visit in cooler hours during summer.
Gage Park's off-leash area has mature tree canopy — one of the coolest dog parks in the city even on hot days. Medium-to-large designated zone with open lawns. Keep dogs in the off-leash zone when passing the playground and splash pad.
An unfenced off-leash area perched on the escarpment with panoramic views of the lower city. Open grassy fields with clear sightlines — great for fetch. Voice control required; escarpment edge is unfenced. One of the best sunset spots in the city for evening dog walks.
One of the few places in Hamilton where dogs can swim in Lake Ontario off-leash. Sandy/pebbly beach with open water. Supervise closely — waves can pick up on windy days. Bring fresh water for your dog and rinse off at the outdoor showers before heading home.
One of Hamilton's most scenic dog spots. The large off-leash zone on the park's west side has ample room for fetch and running along the harbour. Limited shade — visit morning or evening in summer. Connects to the Waterfront Trail for a longer leashed walk.
